Intake & Diversion Services
The Intake-Diversion Department receives all initial complaints and referrals from law enforcement agencies, the prosecutor's office, and parents. Following a review of charges, reports and/or an interview with parents, the Intake Department determines how to proceed with the case. Factors taken into consideration include the nature of the offense, physical harm to victims, and any previous involvement with the Court. Diversion options may include referrals to other agencies, a warning letter, or an informal conference, while more serious charges may result in an official complaint being filed with the Court. The primary interventions utilized are the Front-End Diversion Initiative and Motivational Interviewing.
