Clerking Department

The Clerk of Court’s Office plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Richland County Juvenile Court by ensuring that all judicial records, filings, and proceedings are handled with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.

Judge Steve McKinley serves as the Clerk of Court for the Richland County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division. In this capacity, he ensures that all judicial and administrative functions are carried out with integrity, transparency, and efficiency. The Chief Deputy Clerk provides direct leadership to the Clerking Department, which consists of approximately nine dedicated Deputy Clerks.

The Clerking Department serves an essential role in the daily operations of the Court, ensuring that every filing, case, and record is handled with accuracy and care. Deputy Clerks are responsible for file-stamping, docketing, processing, and scheduling all cases and documents submitted to the Court.

Beyond these core responsibilities, the department also oversees the maintenance and preservation of court records, manages record requests, and handles the collection of court costs, fees, and fines.

In addition, the Clerking Department supports daily court operations by providing courtroom recording services, assisting with case management, and carrying out a variety of administrative and technical functions essential to the smooth and effective operation of the Juvenile Division. Through their commitment to professionalism and public service, the Clerking team ensures that the Court remains accessible, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the community.
