School Engagement Services

The Elementary School Engagement Program is designed to reduce school truancy among youth ages 5–12 by addressing both structural and motivational barriers that may hinder a child’s academic success. In addition to promoting regular school attendance, the program aims to divert students and parents from further involvement in the juvenile justice system, fostering positive early intervention and long-term educational outcomes.

A certified Education Engagement Specialist administers the program in partnership with Case Western Reserve University. It incorporates evidence-based strategies, including the Front-End Diversion Initiative and Motivational Interviewing, to assess each child’s individual needs, implement targeted interventions, and monitor progress.

Through this approach, the program seeks to empower families, enhance student engagement, and strengthen school attendance habits, ensuring that young children receive the support and guidance necessary to succeed academically and socially.
